Sony may be rethinking its strategy for bringing PlayStation exclusives to PC, according to new reports from inside the company. The Japanese tech giant has allegedly concluded that porting its flagship single-player titles to PC hasn’t delivered the business impact it expected, prompting discussions about halting such efforts.
The long-rumored cross-buy system, which would allow players to purchase a game once for both PS5 and PC, is also reportedly off the table. Insider sources suggest Sony believes that releasing PC versions years after their console debut significantly reduces their commercial value, making the effort less worthwhile than originally anticipated.
However, Sony is not planning a full retreat from the PC market.
Live-service titles like Helldivers 2 performed exceptionally well on PC, and upcoming multiplayer-focused projects — including the highly anticipated Marathon — are still expected to launch on both platforms.
In contrast, traditional single-player blockbusters, such as the rumored Ghost of Yotei, may never arrive on PC — or could release only after long delays.
